    Hello all,

My PC (windows xp) has been working properly for several months. But since yesterday, it keeps rebooting at start up. I have tried all the different boot options by pressing f8 (command prompt, safe mode, last good settings, boot from CD e.t.c), nothing will work. Every time, after the XP logo, I receive a blue screen. I don't have time to read the error message because the PC automatically reboots.
after some reading I have tried:

    -fixboot
    -fixmbr
    -chkdsk /p
    -chkdsk /r
-repair tool from the xp disk

What should I do? Is this because of some hardware or software problem or some kind of virus.

    Help greatly appreciated,
    Thanks

Hey, yep I've tried all of my external devices. I don't have a virus scan disk that I can try and boot with and do a scan, is there one I can download?

You were able to boot from the Xp Cd to run..
    -fixboot
    -fixmbr
    -chkdsk /r
Using fixboot with a virus present - will now stop your Pc from starting.

Have you made any hardware changes to the Pc?
Remove any external device - just have keyboard and mouse connected to the Pc.

    Check all internal connections.
    Hard drive IDE to motherboard.
Remove video card - Ram sticks etc and reseat them in their slots.
If you have more than one Ram stick - use one at a time in different slots.
Clean dust etc from inside the Pc.
