I joined here to try get in contact with a member @TheOutcaste.
Tthere is not any way obvious to send him a private message or start a conversation (what the software here calls PM's?)

Ive sent a contact request to the forum admin, who on their reply suggested to send him a private message via his profile.

Ill admit Im not familiar with the software used here, but its not obvious at all how to do this. NONE. or Im blind and cant use the fuzzywebs anymore. :)

Also not about to star making random posts to unlocks some special ability to be able to do this, but if thats what it takes...

    Hints anyone?

    Thanks.

Go to his profile and click on "Start a Conversation" and say hi or something and he should get an email if he is still using the same address.

You are correct in that what used to be called Private Messages on the previous software platform are now called Personal Conversations on this one that we've been using for the past two years. Also, new members don't have permission to use that feature right away.

I am not the Admin. that received your initial email but it has been forwarded on to me and I've asked the site owner (TechGuy) for assistance due to the nature of your reason for wanting to contact him.

I can also say that I believe it would be a futile attempt anyway as I tried to contact him a while ago and never received a response.

Hello, and thank you for the replies ;)

@dotty99 Yes, I was hoping that the admins would send him a contact via his email used and point him here, at least that would actually say I tried my best. :)

I cant see any such option like I said in my post, at least its not visible to me, which is why even suggested there maybe some post count limitation, just a guess :) I dont know, only an admin can answer that and maybe remove that limitation for me.

@Cookiegal If you tried via his direct email and it was related to http://home.comcast.net/~theoutcaste1/ then it could even be likely a dead account, if so you would receive a bounced email delivery failure, if not chances it could be active. and at least, it would have given @TheOucaste a fair chance to reply.

Well, in the mean time I'll stick around and will see.

Perhaps you guys should have a policy on forums that Automatically licences all the code snippets your users post, so if they are covered under GPL/MIT or Creative Commons type licence, I wouldn't have to scour the earth to be able to make good moral use with attribution to the author of a 10 line snippet of batch code into a bigger usable project when posting it to the public elsewhere. :/

/me waves fist around and makes incomprehensible noises :/

I suspected that much, so spamming around disguised as help it is :)

    @Cookiegal

So I want to know, what that limit is?
Or would you sent a email directly to TheOutCaste pointing here to these post?

The time limit has been reached and your permissions have been updated so you should be able to use the Personal Conversation (Private Message) system. It wouldn't hurt to give it a try but please keep us posted. I'd very much like to know if he replies to you as I've been worried about him.

You can count on it ;)

However its no guarantee that the conversation is triggering an email...
If @TheOutcaste has turned this off, then hed only see it after a login and checking his alerts...

@Cookiegal Have you already tried his direct email? Is it bouncing or?

I am aware of how the account settings work and wouldn't have told you to try if I knew it wouldn't go through.

My attempts to contact him in the past were by sending emails directly to the email address we have on record which is not a comcast one and never bounced back to me. Others had tried to contact him at the time as well without success.

Sure, I was covering my bases. Sometimes stating the obvious helps. I sent him message already, now we wait.
