A little under a month ago, I accidentally started a download for some sort of media sharing program. I immediately removed it from my computer, but Funmoods piggybacked onto it. I re-set my homepage, got rid of the Funmoods toolbar, and with the Control Panel (I have Windows Vista), I uninstalled Funmoods. However, I still have problems.

Funmoods may be gone, but there is a "Search Here" bar that looks like this:

Right-clicking on the Toolbar area offers no option for hiding this box. It does show that IE8 still considers Funmoods as part of the set-up, albeit hidden. Going to Tools > Internet Options > Search > Settings takes me to this screen:

Clicking on "Search Here," I have continually hit "Remove;" every time I do, it turns back up the next time I open IE8.

I also have problems with New Tabs. Every time I open a New Tab, it automatically goes here:

I have set New Tabs to open on a blank page; apparently, this is what my machine thinks a blank page is now.

I have recently aquired Google Chrome, and have similar problems. I have installed Revo Uninstaller on a 30-Day trial run, but as I said, I uninstalled Funmoods through my Control Panel; I don't know what to look for on Revo to remove.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Download and save and then install the free version of

    Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

Make sure to update their definition files during the install process.

Make sure to uncheck and decline to install any extras, such as toolbars and homepages, they may offer.

Make sure to uncheck or decline to use the "Pro" or "Trial" version, if it's offered.

After they're installed and updated, restart the computer.

Run a quick scan with each one.

After each quick scan is finished, select and remove EVERYTHING that was found.
