Hi,
M computer suddenly went haywire doing all kinds of strange things. For example when clicking the start button on the desktop to shut down, the run box appears and starts filling itself up with the letter "r". I have to shut down by manually switching off the power and on restart the system restore function starts up.
After I go through the system restore procedure, I get a message that it was successful and requests a restart. But after restarting, System restore starts up again.
I thought I had it solved when I reformatted the drive and did a full system retore - and everything worked fine - so I did a full windows update and reloaded all my programmes - and suddenly back to the same old problem when trying to shut down.
MY O/S is Windows XP Home Edition and is completelely up to date
I have not installed any new programmes recently.
Any suggestions please - apart from binning it!
Thanks
Peter
