    Hi,
Need your help again to solve my friend's mistake. Don't know what he did but he gave me this laptop that has the following problem:

My laptop makes a continuous noise when starting and after pressing the ESC key repeatedly, the noise stops and the following shows up:
    Phoenix BIOS 4.0 Release 6.1
    Copyright 1985-2005 Phoenix Technologies Ltd.
    All rights Reserved

    BIOS version F.43
    CPU stepping-unknown 1600MHZ --BSP Info, 2 CPU’s detected.
    512MB L2 cache
    System BIOS shadowed
    Video Bios shadowed
    ATAPI CD-ROM: T5ST Corp CD/DVDW TS-L632D
    Fixed disk0: ST 980811AS

    Press F10 to enter setup

Then after about 3 seconds it goes to a screen that asks where to boot from: hard disk or network adapter or to enter setup. If I press ESC again it automatically goes to the window screen and loads normally; then i can use it.
    Can you help me please?

    Thank you.:)

Product #: dv6000 OS: Windows Vista Basic.

Is there a CD in the CD/DVD drive.
It may be trying to boot to it and hanging.

If it hasn't been plugged in for a while,it may be a weak
    cmos battery.
Leave it plugged in overnight, then try it.
