My control panels won't open anymore. I followed the fix on the microsoft website, but it didn't work. It says I should reinstall them fromt he windows 98 CD, but all I have is a crappy system restore disk, which isn't a windows 98 cd. Any ideas where I can get the control panels again?

Maybe try running Scan Disk (Standard) and see if any errors pop up. If they do fix them, reboot and see what happens.
Also if it's early enough (5 days I think) you can try ScanReg/Restore.

If your Computer only has a restore cd, windows is probably installed on your harddrive, usually in C: .. Windows.. Options..Cabs, check and see, if so, do the Misrosoft fix, but browse to the cabs folder instead of using win 98 CD before you start the fix ...Rhett

    And....

The Blebla worm is something to consider as it is the cause of many Control Panel applet problems. You could try a scan at HouseCall to confirm/eliminate this possibility.

If it is Blebla, you're going to need the INF files at this site. Check out the readme.txt file before proceeding.
