I have a photo of my grandparents which I would love to be a lot sharper but do not have the expertise or know how how to do this.

Is it possible to convert this to HD?

    NO ...
We can add pixels but that won't make it HD or increase sharpness.
Depends on the picture, but we might be able to make it a lot better.
Can you attach it here ???

    How's this ???
I added a few pixels to keep it from pixelating ...
Adjusted the color ... Made it a 4x6 for Prints ...
Brought the dark levels up a little ...
Removed some distractions and speckles ..... and sharpened it.

A print twice the size ... will look the same definition/sharpness ... at twice the distance.
Do you want Prints ... What size ???

    Many thanks indeed.

I was hoping to turn it into a 10 x 8 photo for my Mum and Uncle.

Hopefully .. For mounting on a Wall or Mantel .... to be viewed at a distance ...
    Here's an 8x10 ....

You might want to send the original Here and see what the real Photoshop experts can do to it.
Be sure to tell them 8x10 print

Thank-you very much indeed for your help.

I've registered with Photoshop Gurus and will see what they can also come up with.

Interesting .... looks like I took little more Red out.
Mine was 200 pixels per inch ... John's was 350
Wait awhile ... other Photoshoppers may try their hand at this ...
    And you'll have more choices
