corrupt system file

    When i load windows xp i get an error which says the system file is dmagaed or corrupt. I can only turn my computer on with the xp install disk and access the recovery console. is there a way for me to copy a fresh system file from the disc into the windows\system32\config\ directory?

    but is says the system can not find the file specified
