I have accidentally deleted a text file yesterday. It is very important for me.

I haven't find it in recycle bin.

I have used the following programs to recover the file with no result ( Immediately after one hour ). However, I could recover other files which are not required for me now.

    Recuva
    PC INSPECTOR File Recovery
    Panda Recovery
    TOKIWA DataRecovery
    Undelete Plus
    FreeUndelete

    OS : XP SP2

    Thank you for your time.

In what manner did you delete the file that it did not go to the recycle bin?
Did you continue to use the drive that the file was on? If so any you loaded all those recovery programs on the same drive and kept using it as normal, there may be no hope of finding it as it may have been overwritten.

If you stopped using that drive immeadiately, removed it and attached it by USB to another system for recovery then there is still a chance to find it.

    Thank you for your reply.

I am providing the additional details :

    >The file is a .txt file.

    >The file was located on the desktop : C:\Documents and Settings\A\Desktop
A : is the user name ( guest account )

    > I have accidentally deleted it by pressing "shift+delete" combination in the
keyboard. I have been using the same disk and loaded the recovery
software on the same disk. ( I am unaware of not using the same disk )

    > I have not do anything after that. I have deleted it while I am deleting the
unnecessary icons on the desktop. I have immediately run the above
mentioned file recovery software to recover it. I have recovered the files
with which thewanted file was delete. But, not the file I want.

    > I am not sure if the file might be over written.

    > All the recovery softwares were not able to run/scan in the guest accont ( A
) where I have lost the file. I could have to run it in the admin account.

    OS : XP SP2

    Thank you.

The "Shift+Delete" by passes the Recycle Bin and the files are NOT recoverable from the bin. I have found also that when the shift+delete is used, the files usually are NOT recoverable by any program.

I think you can kiss this one good by.
What about your backups, you do make backups don't you?

Unfortunately, I have deleted the back software few days back. It is my mistake, it is unfortunate.

    Thank you.
