My desktop is an eMachine T2792 w/ Win XP ver 5.1.2600. My browser works everytime that I turn on the computer. Then after 5-10 mins max, I get an "IE cannot display page" error. I have replaced the LAN card, uninstalled IE7, installed IE8, and had the system checked for viruses. I have also executed the following:

    NETSH WINSTOCK RESET CATALOG
    NETSH INT IP RESET RESET.LOG

Below are the results from several ping commands.

You have an old version of AVG. The latest one is AVG 2011. However, people are having all sorts of issues with AVG lately. I would remove it completely with the AVG Remover and install Microsoft Security Essentials.

I executed the RemoveAVG and installed the Microsoft Security. However, after a few minutes, I still get the "IE cannot display webpage" error.

Have you tried another ethernet cable?

You could also contact your ISP so they can test the modem.

This is what I did. I disconnected the ethernet cables from the cable modem. By doing this, I elimated my wireless network from the equation. Although, I am not having any problems using the laptop to access the internet. I replaced the ethernet cable with another one going directly from the cable modem to the desktop. No improvement. If I am not having any issues with the laptop, doesn't that mean the problem is in the desktop?

    Thanks

Looking at your ipconfig /all report, I was under the impression you didn't have a wireless setup.

Yes, I have a wireless network. I don't have any problems with it. Does it make a difference that when I go to Contorl Panel/Network Connections there are 2 listed?

Yes, I know that I had Norton at one time. I'm not sure about the other.

To make sure everything is gone from Norton, which is notorious for connection issues when not properly uninstalled, run the Norton Removal Tool.

I am not able to download the Norton Uninstaller. Part of the downloading is a 64kb database. I have tried around a dozen times and it will not download. Also the install program is detecting AVG Anti-Virus & eTrust EZAntivirus. However, they do NOT show up when I go to the Add/Remove programs. I tried to manually delete both using some instructions that I found. But it did not work. Any more ideas?
