Had my grandchildren over this week and they were messing with the PC. Just wanted to make sure they didn't add anything that's not suppose to be there.

Thanks once again.

Are you experiencing any problems? The log shows no threats, but a bloated startup programs list.

Yes, as these will occupy space in memory. The following are your startup programs:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [ScanRegistry] C:\WINDOWS\scanregw.exe /autorun
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [TaskMonitor] C:\WINDOWS\taskmon.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SystemTray] SysTray.Exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [LoadPowerProfile] Rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,LoadCurrentPwrScheme
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AtiPTA] Atiptaxx.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [YBrowser] C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\browser\ybrwicon.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IPInSightMonitor 01] "C:\PROGRAM FILES\SBC YAHOO!\CONNECTION MANAGER\IP INSIGHT\IPMon32.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [2wSysTray] C:\PROGRAM FILES\2WIRE\2PORTALMON.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Zone Labs Client] C:\Program Files\Zone Labs\ZoneAlarm\zlclient.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [VetAlert] C:\PROGRA~1\CA\ETRUST~1\ETRUST~1\VETMSG.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CaAvTray] "C:\Program Files\CA\eTrust EZ Armor\eTrust EZ Antivirus\CAVTray.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CAVRID] "C:\Program Files\CA\eTrust EZ Armor\eTrust EZ Antivirus\CAVRID.exe"
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Adaptec DirectCD] C:\PROGRA~1\ADAPTEC\DIRECTCD\DIRECTCD.EXE
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Motive SmartBridge] C:\PROGRA~1\SBCSEL~1\SMARTB~1\MotiveSB.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [CreateCD] C:\PROGRA~1\ADAPTEC\EASYCD~1\CREATECD\CREATECD.EXE -r
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [LoadPowerProfile] Rundll32.exe powrprof.dll,LoadCurrentPwrScheme
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [SchedulingAgent] mstask.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [TrueVector] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\ZONELABS\VSMON.EXE -service
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [CAISafe] C:\Program Files\CA\eTrust EZ Armor\eTrust EZ Antivirus\ISafe.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [DkService] C:\Program Files\Executive Software\Diskeeper\DkService.exe
O4 - Startup: SmartCapture.lnk = C:\WINDOWS\SII\SLPCAP.EXE
O4 - Startup: Quicken Startup.lnk = C:\QUICKENW\QWDLLS.EXE
O4 - Startup: Billminder.lnk = C:\QUICKENW\BILLMIND.EXE
O4 - Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA9.EXE
O4 - Startup: UMAX VistaAccess.lnk = C:\VSTASCAN\vsaccess.exe
O4 - Startup: SBC Self Support Tool.lnk = C:\Program Files\SBC Self Support Tool\bin\matcli.exe

The following link will be helpful to determine if the program is necessary (Essential or not):

http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php?filter=Atiptaxx.exe

You can either use the executable or the Program's label to search the Data base. These programs can be disable throughout Msconfig rather than throughout hijackthis (except those in red). (Start->Run, type Msconfig, and click Ok, select the Startup tab).

If you have a Desktop the following are unessential:

TaskMonitor
LoadPowerProfile (both entries)
SchedulingAgent

As a General Rule, in Windows 98 the essential programs are SystemTray, ScanRegistry, Antivirus Programs and Firewall. Most of the other programs are either user's choice, or non essential.

Thank you so much for all your help and input. I will do as you suggested and remove those that are not needed in startup , and trust me I will be extremely careful with the one's you mentioned also.

Again, thanks for all your help

G-night!
