Welcome

what operating system do you have?

have you run anti spyware scans and anti virus scans?

have you done house keeping by cleaning up such as with disc clean up or CCleaner?

is there a clunking noise in the computer or please explain more the booting sound you get. when it does that does the screen do anything?

i ran ad-aware and spy bot which brings up that i need to delete cookies.

The noise i hear sometimes is not a clunking noise it just sounds like it has alot of programs running or something i can't really explain it.

do not reinstall XP until you have exhausted other solutions. You rule out the simple stuff first and then if need be next post a Hijack This log which will help with removal of infections if that is he problem
