Removed some items yesterday from another username on XP, but today I logged into my wife's username and her desktop looks like mine did before the fix. The icons just don't look right. They are shaded, where mine are the icon itself. Maybe I am just overreacting since mine was messed up yesterday. Thanks!

You may want to print this or save it to notepad as we will go to safe mode.

Fix these with HJT – mark them, close IE, click fix checked

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [msci] C:\DOCUME~1\Jason\LOCALS~1\Temp\2006731202019_mcinfo.exe /insfin

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [yhhrt] C:\WINDOWS\System32\dsvxsp.exe reg_run

    DownLoad http://www.downloads.subratam.org/KillBox.zip

Restart your computer into safe mode now. (Tapping F8 at the first black screen) Perform the following steps in safe mode:

Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it. Now put a tick by Standard File Kill. In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste each of the following lines one at a time then click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter each file. It will ask for confimation to delete the file. Click Yes. Continue with that same procedure until you have copied and pasted all of these in the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box.

    C:\DOCUME~1\Jason\LOCALS~1\Temp\2006731202019_mcinfo.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\dsvxsp.exe

Note: It is possible that Killbox will tell you that one or more files do not exist. If that happens, just continue on with all the files. Be sure you don't miss any.

    START – RUN – type in %temp% - OK - Edit – Select all – File – Delete

Delete everything in the C:\Windows\Temp folder or C:\WINNT\temp

Not all temp files will delete and that is normal
    Empty the recycle bin
Boot and post a new log from normal NOT safe mode

Please give feedback on what worked/didn’t work and the current status of your system

I fixed the 2 items on HJT.

I downloaded killbox and deleted the 2 files, except on the System 32 one, it said it does not exist.

I deleted all temp files, and it told me one was read only and asked if i wanted to delete and i said yes.

    I emptied the recycle bin.

I haven't noticed any changes to the PC. The icons are still shaded blue, and I checked my theme settings in display and they are set to just Windows XP just like my other username, the one in which we fixed yesterday. At some point the icons yesterday went back to being just icons with no shading. Is there something else we can do here? Here is the latest HJT log...

I have noticed something called I.R.I.S OCR Registration. What is that and do I need it?

I turned off system restore in normal mode, rebooted, and the turned it back on again in normal mode. Is this correct? Icons are still not what they should be. Do you know what I mean when I say they are shadowed and they aren't as easy to read as they would be if they were normal?

    This part as well?

Once you have performed the big cleanup, each of the other Users on the System needs to be signed in to clean up their desktop and regain the right click.

I have included another vbs to do this. It is named Other Profiles Regfix.vbs

Have each User sign in and run Other Profiles Regfix.vbs
Open C:\ (Go to Start>Run and type C: Press enter) and Open the c:\desktopclean folder. Double click on Other Profiles Regfix.vbs

Explorer will be ended and that user's active desktop registry entries will be repaired. Explorer will be restarted.

To restore the desktop to whatever picture you normally have right click on a blank part of desktop & select properties/desktop & select your prefered picture press apply & then ok to exit and then press F5

You will need to do this step for every user account

Did exactly as it said, but the shaded blue icons will not change. What is causing this?
