A friend of mine called to say that their computer was shutting down randomly and the computer was running really loud. I stopped by and took the cover off and noticed it was the CPU fan. I just wrote down the model number of the PC and didn't measure the fan, assuming I would be able to find it online. Maybe it's there, but I'm not smart enought to see it. The computer is a Compaq Presario SR5233WM (GN578AA). Below are the specs I found on Compaq's site but I'm still not sure of the size of the fan and really hate to have to stop by again to measure the fan. Can any of you tell what size of fan it's using? Thanks.
Here is a picture of the fan. It's just over 3" measuring top and bottom, so that's an 80mm fan, right? Also, it has a 4 pin connection into the system board. Will this be an easy replacement?
Google the make and model number and you should be able to find the exact replacement fan. I can see in the pic it's a Foxconn fan, but I can't read the model number.
I just looked again on the site that shows the parts and this is for the system cooling fan. Is that different than the fan that's sitting on the heatsink?
Get the make and model number off the fan that is attached to the heaatsink and Google it and you will find an exact replacement.
