CPU fan

    when i open my computer up the cpu fan doesnt move and i get a message and it shuts down,but when i help it with a pen a few times, it starts moving and then everything works fine

    Need to replace it , probably bearings going bad. You can pull up the paper sticker and put a drop of 3-in-1 oil or sewing machine oil in it and it will get you by until you can replace it. What processor and heat sink are you running?

    ok i will try that.
    i have a really old pc but it works fine for my daily needs so i use it.
    processor is intel core 2 and the heat sunc is standard.
