i was wondering if anybody had some ideas on how to speed up this computer of mine
i've tried all the classic spyware and virus scans, registry scans
i even upgraded the RAM from 512mb up to 2gb, which provided no improvement whatsoever
the cpu just seems to have trouble handling even the simplest tasks, theres no evident process or program hogging up the cpu time... its just slow
its a 3.06 ghz cpu, so i'd be expecting a bit more bang for my buck
heres a hijackthis log if it's any help

any ideas would be muchly appreciated
    cheers

    Hi.
If your CPU is an Intel than you have to turn on HYPERTHREADING in your bios or it will run like a snail. If you dont know how I may be able to explain how to do it.
    Cheers

You have a malware item which TSG malware removal experts can help you sort.

You also appear to be running two anti-virus programs which will slow your PC. Given a choice of which to keep, I would keep the AVG.

    Hi.
If you have the latest Mother Board than it might be settings in the bios as all the new Mother Boards are made for Windows Vista. I had a problem and it was because I had settings in the Bios set for Vista. The only way I found out was when I read the book on my Mother Board and it explained the settings and how they are the DEFAULT settings.
As soon as I turned those settings of my computer ran faster and I had no more problems with files and installing programs.

The other thing I have had is with the latest windows XP updates.
They downloaded and installed as per usual and all of a sudden my computer was slow and jerky when playing games. I thought I must have a virus but checking with the latest checkers said no. I then decided to uninstall the last 2 updates and would'nt you know the jerkiness disappeared and my computer was fast again. (Thanks Microsoft) :(
I know of other people who have had similar problems with Microsoft Updates.
    Good LUck
