Hi. I use Windows XP Home. The Computer Usage on the Windows Task Manager/Applications screen keeps going from a normal 5% to 100% every week or so. When it goes to 100%, the computer locks up.
When I eliminate cookies and temporary internet files using the Control Panel, then reboot the computer, this sometimes helps.
Is there any other reasons my Computer Usage keeps going to 100%, and is there ways I can fix this? Thanks.

Yes, there may be an unknown process that keep your cpu @100%. Close all processes with end task exept these ones: explorer.exe taskmgr.exe system.exe systray.exe smss.exe csrss.exe winlogon.exe lsass.exe
