I've never had this problem before
    I have an asus laptop
    Specifically the X542UN
    With an i7 8850u processor

I use the computer purely for school and playing Minecraft in my free time

The problem started about 2 days ago
Before that Minecraft was running at 120-200 fps
Now it can't even reach 30

I opened task manager and the CPU was running only at 0.20 GHz (base speed is 1.99GHz, keep in mind Minecraft was running in the background meaning it's not just because of the system not using more than it needs to)

Please help I just want to play my videogames
    What do I do?

That laptop is now 2yr old. Have you ever cleaned it and or had it serviced at a shop?

You appear to actually have an ASUS VivoBook 15 X542UN laptop which came with Windows 10 Home 64-bit.
    Is that correct?

Are you sure it has an Intel Core i7-8850U processor?

How much RAM(memory) does it have?

Sometimes a Laptop will throttle back because of heat issues, clogged fins & fans on the CPU cooler. Can you try it lifted up from the surface it is on so it can get air in the bottom? Don't lay it on a bed or soft surface.
