Hello & Happy New Year!

I am running Windows Me & have found I have 11,828 cpy files of various sizes taking up over 1.03Gb in my c:\_restore\temp folder.

I do not use System Restore & do not want these files & I would like to delete them but access is denied.

Can anyone help me please?

Thanks in advance & best wishes to you all.

Hi!

Thanks for the swift reply.

I run Norton 2000 & have the latest definitions. I have checked for a virus & had no show of one, but I will run a full system scan again.

Any more ideas, please - I just want to delete the cpy files!

Best wishes.

Can't be much more help.

I"m working on a HP that had the W32/[email protected] virus.

Caused a lot of very strange problems.

I had to run Recovery Disk. (It had no up to date virus program)

Good Luck!

Happy New year!

Cpy files are “Copy Books Data File” types what ever that is. I presume they are associated with an accounting program or downloaded books. Anything like that on your computer?

Hello & thanks again for your help.

I have run a complete virus scan that revealed no viruses.

I have read the article at the url that beach51 suggested & that was great. I will carry out the suggestions there & hope that will solve the problem. I have 521 inf files in c:\windows\inf taking up 8.62Mb.

I really appreciated what you have all done to help me with this matter - it's great to know there are some good guys about!

Best wishes.

Hello again!

I could not directly delete the cpy files in the c:\_restore\temp - when I tried, I got the message saying that access was denied.

I created an image of the c drive then deleted the cpy files from within the image file then reinstalled this amended image file.

All seems to be OK now & I want to thank you all fro your help.

Best wishes.
