    Hey,

I've been told that this is the right forum to ask for hardware and computer stuff.

Anyways. I have stubled into a big issue. Somehow all my files and folders on my external hard drive have been broken.

My schoolwork, hobby pictures, everthing. They have somehow been encrypted i think, not sure. :(

Ever folder i go into looks like this:
    http://peecee.dk/uploads/092008/skole.jpg

Notice the big files next to the folders - i did not have them before. (n)

If i try to open a file or folder i get this:
    http://peecee.dk/uploads/092008/mappe.jpg

If i try to look at the properties i get this:
    http://peecee.dk/uploads/092008/egenskab.jpg

The files and folders all have 'illegal' caracters in the names.

Everytime i use the hard drive i make sure to stop it before i take it out. I also have an updated antivirus. So i dont think these have caused the problem - not sure though.

If anyone can tell me how to recover the data from the drive it would be very appriciated. :D

    Thanks on beforehand!

It looks like a mix between Finnish and machine rep, I have no clue but have you tried it on another system to see if the problem follows the drive or not?

If you didn't try it on a Linux OS then I would suggest that. Linus has a habit of bypassing certain errors that Windows runs into. Just a thought, sorry I can't be of more help, but best of luck.
