Hi, I'd like to build a website to show my programming skills, for my portfolio and I was wondering would it be better to use Wordpress or start coding from scratch?

What are your programming skills? Maybe make a website with those skills.
I develop and maintain wordpress for clients, so I have a wordpress site to show my portfolio.

It really depends if you want to display your WordPress proficiency or your site-building skills. Personally I would go with Bootstrap, starting from scratch - 'cos it's fun and Bootstrap is pretty versatile;)
