I recently went through the horror of a PC crash after a Windows 10 update. Using my ISO disk, I managed to repair it by reinstalling Windows whilst opting to keep all my files and apps (programs). This worked although I keep coming across certain pieces of software that have been affected and require reinstalling/repairing.

I have just noticed that, unlike before, the CMSS-3D function of my soundcard is not working whilst all the other functions (EAX Effects, Crystallizer, Equaliser, etc.) work fine. When I "test" the 7.1 speaker setup I get the appropriate spoken audio from each speaker.

I have tried uninstalling the Creative products completely (using Revo Uninstaller) and renamed any remaining folders to force new ones to be created when reinstalling from the original CD.

I realise this is an old product but I decided to use it in place of the onboard Creative sound-chip because it was superior in many ways (7.1 vs 5.1 to name but one).

After I had installed it I then downloaded and installed the latest drivers from Creative.

I do have the Console set properly................

.............and I have checked the settings in the Control Panel.............

Has anyone got any guidance or advice to help resolve this problem please.

Also, have I posted this on the correct forum section or should I also post it to software and/or multimedia?

Regards

Clive

I also have in my computer the Creative Soundblaster and did download the driver for Windows 10.
After installing it I got a message if I wanted to update my audio driver which I did but the only update was the Alchalmy (something like that) driver and no other drivers were available.
I think W10 has no more updates available for the rest of the drivers.

I didn't get that message and whenever I attempt to try to load a different driver (e.g. the one for the SoundBlaster X-Fi Extreme non-PCI Express version) it just states, cannot find that component on your pc (or similar).

Can anyone else see what I am doing wrong and am I posting in the right forum section?
