I'm experiencing the same problems others have had trying to customize Outlook Today in Outlook 2000. My problem is that I am not sure if Critical Update 813489 for Internet Explorer was ever downloaded onto my computer. My system failed me last week and I had someone do a "brain transplant" for me. He reinstalled Windows 98 SE, loaded some drivers and got me onto the Internet, but left me to reinstall Office 2000 and get Outlook up and running again. I have no idea if he may have downloaded the update or if it was on the disk he used to load Windows.

Anyway, before I attempt the solution offered in previous posts, I want to verify that the update is on my system. Any suggestions as to how I might get that information? Thanks.

Go to the Windows Update site, let it install the software if it asks...and if it does, you'll know that the new copy of Windows hasn't been updated at all...and once the link on the left, "View Installation History" is available, click on it. That will give you all the Windows (including IE but not including MS Office) updates installed on your computer so far.

I'm just a little confused. Are you suggesting I try to install the Critical Update to my computer? If it's not already on my system, won't I have complicated my Outlook problem?
