i'm trying to develop a website using dreamweaver, formatted in XTML 1.0 transitional....i'm also a complete novice (first time), and i've run into this problem:

i just cut and pasted some nav bar code from a site i developed using earthlink's trellix software (i think their coding is HTML 4.0).....the nav bar shows up fine in the dreamweaver design view, but the code error messages indicate that " value 'xxxxx' is not supported for CCS property color (IE 5, 5.5, 6, Netscape 6,7)

it's a simple verticle menu, some colored fields with page names....rollovers on the text and field colors....the biggie i think is that the border between the boxes is transparent

still, i'm sure the code is pretty simple if you've ever done it before.....anyone have a references for creating an external CSS file for this?
