When a web page freezes and you do Ctrl Alt D to close that program.. and that page is highlighted why does it also take down the other web pages you might have open? It used to just close out the one that was highlighted.
How can it be corrected??

If you open a new page by following a link or doing ctrl+N, a ctl-alt-del will kill all windows, since there is only one copy of the browser running.

If you start multiple windows, by double clicking on the browser icon, then a ctl-alt-del will only kill the windows belonging to it's particular copy.

thank you WhitPhil... I guess that is what has been happening. Suppose there's no way to get around it?!
