I think that I got a Trojan horse which Norten caught and deleted but now CTRL-ALT-DEL doesn't work right. It opens for about 3/4 of a second and then disappears. Any ideas?

Thanks

Operating system is ... ?

If XP, go Start - Run

Type sfc /scannow

Press Enter. There is a space after sfc, before the /scannow.

Thats the System File Checker, it will check your critical system files and replace them if required. You may need to put your XP CD in the drive if asked.

go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip , and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please copy & paste its contents to the forum.

It will possibly show issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

I had the excact same problem at the start of the year, it was the KLEZ worm, xtremly destructive. I had 2 reinstall windows (after getting rid of the nasty worm). I'm not saying u have it, but u should use housecall or something like that to see if there r any viruses on your system.

Operations system is Win 2000. I found your posting for someone else last night and am attaching log from HT. Also ran RAV as recommended and found 4 infected files. have deleted them. worst seemed to be C:\WINNT\system32\winlodr.scr->(ASPack 2.12) - Win32/SpyBot.gen!p2p had to go into safe mode to get this one out of there.
Intereseted to know if you see anything in the HT log that also needs fixing. Thanks

Seems to have fixed the problem. Any idea why Norton and SpyBot didn't catch this? I assume that you guys like RAV better for virus scans.

Thanks to all for the quick help.
