Here's a strange problem I'm having in Vista with custom-made icons I have created or icons from downloaded icon libraries: I go through the "change icon" procedure by right clicking a desktop icon I want to replace and then clicking properties. Then I browse to the location where the .ico file I want is stored and select it. The process works just fine. The new icon appears on the desktop. But whenever I restart the computer, I discover that one or more (but not all) of these icons has been replaced by the standard Internet Explorer icon. When I right click that icon and click properties, it shows me the icon that was replaced. I can restore it by going back through the change icon procedure all over again and giving the .ico file a new name. Any idea of what's going on here? Thanks a lot.
