I ran Pest Patrol, Adaware, SpyBot, PandaScan and CWS...and still it lives! When I ran CWS it even told me I had no infected files as I sat there looking at the icons on my desktop lol. Anyway, I won't rant and whine I'll just post my log and beg for help *s

I think I got rid of the CWS shredder but, something still doesn't run properly. I have run everything again and deleted all I could that didn't look normal but, I wonder if I have missed something. My reboot and startup is lagging bad and it seems like there is always an hourglass attached to my cursor, like something is trying to load and isn't. And don't get me started on how when I do a search in Yahoo now I get a weird looking results page without any viable links but to other search programs. I am scared to delete some of the things I think look off because I have just gotten a new computer and using XP now, who knows if these things are important or not. Either way, here is the new log, arghhhh lol

Download pocket killbox from Download pocket killbox from http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/killbox.exe & put it on the desktop where you can find it easily

download http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/fixhx.reg and put it on desktop then double click it and say yes to the message to merge with registry

now go to start/ run and paste in this line
    sc delete winlow
    and press OK or enter

    repeat for
    sc delete vdmt16

Run hijackthis, put a tick in the box beside these entries listed below and ONLY these entries, double check to make sure, then make sure all browser & email windows are closed and press fix checked

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
    O2 - BHO: PynixObj Class - {00000000-DD60-0064-6EC2-6E0100000000} - C:\WINDOWS\Pynix.dll
    O2 - BHO: CDownCom Class - {031B6D43-CBC4-46A5-8E46-CF8B407C1A33} - C:\WINDOWS\DOWNLO~1\ipreg32.dll

    O2 - BHO: Explorer Class - {962F12AE-2773-4BEB-99EA-B5C3AB9A6606} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\DSMANA~1.DLL

now run killbox and paste each of these lines into the box, select standard file delete then press the red X button, say yes to the prompt then continue to paste the lines in in turn and follow the above procedure every time, If it says file is missing, don't worry, but if it says unable to delete file then select delete on reboot BUT DO NOT let it reboot yet

    c:\windows\system32\klogini.dll
    c:\windows\system32\p2.ini
    c:\windows\system32\ps.a3d
    c:\windows\system32\vdnt32.sys
    c:\windows\system32\vdmt16.sys
    c:\windows\system32\winlow.sys
    c:\windows\system32\klo5.sys
    c:\windows\system32\drct16.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\DSMANA~1.DLL
    C:\WINDOWS\Pynix.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\DOWNLO~1\ipreg32.dll

then Go to Start > Run and type %temp% in the Run box, press OK . The Temp folder will open. Click Edit > Select All then Edit > Delete to delete the entire contents of that Temp folder.

then go to C:\windows\temp and select EVERYTHING except temporary internet files, cookies and history folders and delete all that and then do the same for C:\temp

    1) Open Control Panel
    2) Click on Internet Options
    3) On the General Tab, in the middle of the screen, click on Delete Files
    4) You may also want to check the box "Delete all offline content"
    5) Click on OK and wait for the hourglass icon to stop after it deletes the temporary internet files
    6) You can now click on Delete Cookies and click OK to delete cookies that websites have placed on your hard drive

    then
    Reboot &

Download and unzip or install these programs/applications if you haven't already got them. If you have them, then make sure they are updated and configured as described

    AdAware SE from http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download
and while you are at the adaware site download and install http://www.lavasoft.de/software/addons/vx2cleaner.shtml
and run it before the main adaware scan and follow it's directions
    Run ADAWARE

Before you scan with AdAware, check for updates of the reference file by using the "webupdate".
the current ref file should read at least SE1R27 05.02.2005 or a higher number/later date

Set up the Configurations as follows:

    General Button
    Safety:
    Check (Green) all three.

    Click on "Proceed"

Please deselect "Search for negligible risk entries", as negligible risk entries (MRU's) are not considered to be a threat.

    Click on "Scan Now"

Run the scanner using the Full Scan (Perform full system scan) mode.

When scan is finished, mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose"select all" from the drop down menu) then press next and then say yes to the prompt, do you want to remove all these entries.

Download and install the Micro$oft antispyware BETA from http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx and let it fix anything it finds (when it finds things, please quarantine them rather than delete just in case as it is a beta and occasional False positives happen)

First press file and check for updates and then run it

Recent tests suggest that a combination of Adaware & M$AS removes approx 80% of spywares/Adwares, much higher than any other combination

Run an online antivirus check from at least one and preferably 2 of the following sites
    http://security.symantec.com/default.asp?
    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
    http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/
    http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/
    http://www3.ca.com/virusinfo/
    http://www.bitdefender.com/scan/licence.php
    http://www.commandondemand.com/eval/index.cfm
    http://www.freedom.net/viruscenter/onlineviruscheck.html
    http://info.ahnlab.com/english/
    http://www.pcpitstop.com/pcpitstop/AntiVirusCntr.asp

    reboot again

please go to http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/forum/index.php and upload these files so I can examine them and distribute them to antivirus companies.
Just press new topic, fill in the needed details and just give a link to your posts here & then press the browse button and then navigate to & select the files on your computer, If there is more than 1 file then press the more attachments button for each extra file and browse and select etc and then when all the files are listed in the windows press send to upload the files ( do not post HJT logs there as they will not get dealt with)

    Files to submit:

Anything inside the C:\!submit folder which is where killbox should have made copies of all the files it deleted

then post a new hijackthis log here to check what is left

It looks clear now and if you aren't having any pop ups or diverts I hope it has cured it all

Turn off system restore by following instructions here
    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2001111912274039
That will purge the restore folder and clear any malware that has been put in there. Then reboot & then re-enable sytem restore & create a new restore point.

go here http://forums.techguy.org/t208517/s.html for info on how to tighten your security settings and how to help prevent future attacks.

all the files you list at the bottom of your last post are important systemm files and are all needed and genuine

a google search will explain more about them but don't panic when you see some called as viruses and trojans or worms

the ones you have are runnning from the correct place and are all proper Microsoft system files
