That's a bit of an exageration, but I know you'll understand... This problem has been ongoing for several weeks.

I identified the problem as the cws.searchx malware, then obtained cwsshredder. That works, then it comes back.

I am running Win2000 Professional. I was using MS Internet Explorer, but just this week changed to Mozilla Firefox. The homepage doesnt get changed in Firefox with the CWS problem, but it now opens MS-IE and I got all the pop-ups. I had messed around with HJT v1.98.0 and got rid of some other mess, but can't seem to resolve the CWS problem.

I would be grateful for any assistance. Many thanks, in advance.

Run a Hijack This scan: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html
Download to a folder of your creation, not on the desktop or Temp
After the scan runs, save the log, then copy and paste it into this thread
Do not attempt to fix anything yet :)

Here's the HJT log from the version you pointed me to. It was done *after* I had already cleaned things up with CWShredder (a few hours before I saw your posted responsed to my query). If you want I can re-post after the cws popups reappear. Thanks.
