I have a hp laptop with AMD E1-2100 APU cpu running Win8.
Was wondering what the RECOVERY D: disk is and does. It's using 19.1 G of the 20 G that it shows and I would like to know what's in it. I can't list the contents as it shows empty yet shows the 19.1 G full.
Can I clear this drive and use the capacity by 'reformatting' it?

I believe it would be unwise to format it as it probably holds a backup to your operating system. If your operating system fails I believe recovery D could restore it to factory default(as it was when first bought)

Lozzy-loz is correct. It holds the data that is needed to do a Restore to Factory Settings.

Do not save to it or format it.

If you ever want to move on to Win 10, only then do you reformat it.
