    My CD-RW was working fine until it just suddenly stopped working properly. When I insert a blank CD-R into the drive i cannot open the drive and instead I get a message "D:\ is not accessible. Incorrect Function." Any disc with files on it work properly but not blank ones. I really need to burn something so any help will be appreciated.

    P.S: I do not own Roxio Easy Cd-Burner I think.

    Right-click on the drive> Properties> Recording tab. Check: "Enable CD Recording On This Drive".

    I think that my CD-RW for some reason thinks it's a normal CD-Drive. Can someone help me?

    If you're not using Roxio, what burning software do you have installed? Uninstall it (software) and reinstall it. How does the drive show in Device Manager? Have you tried different brands of CD's?

    I have tried different brands of CD's but they didn't work. I'm not sure I have any burning software installed or not but I think i don't have any installed... Although I have a "Adaptec" folder in my Program Files.

    So how were you able to burn CD's before?

    Adaptec is Roxio. Reinstall it using the CD. Only then will the drive function as a writer.

    I can't find Drives in the CDburning Key. I guess that's the problem... But how do I get it back?

    Uninstall the drive in Device Manager and reboot.

    This applies if Roxio was uninstalled and the ROM drives disappeared, but try it anyway.
    Open Regedit and navigate to this key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\
    {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    In right-hand pane see if you have entries for Upper Filter and Lower Filter. If there, delete them, close Regedit and reboot.
