    Hi and welcome to TSG,

I accidentally deleted your posts when combining them both together.

I apologize for that and am reposting it here for you.

Please do this. Click here: http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/hijackthis_sfx.exe
    to download Hijack This.

It’s very important that you save it to its own folder on your hard drive, such as program files (not temporary files or the desktop), so that it can create proper back-ups and be able to restore them if necessary.

Close all open windows and open Hijack This. Click “Scan”. When the scan is finished (it only takes a second), the scan button will change to “Save Log”. Click on “Save Log” and then save it to NotePad. Click on “Edit” – “Select all” – “copy” and then “paste” into the thread.

DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET, most items that appear in the log are harmless or even needed.

    Thanks for understanding. :)

Please download and run the following program(s):

    AD-AWARE

    Go here: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/
    and download Ad-Aware SE Personal

Install the program and launch it.

First, in the bottom right-hand corner of the main window click on Check for updates now then click Connect and download the latest reference files.

Then, in the main window: Click Start and under Select a scan Mode tick Perform full system scan.

Then, deselect Search for negligible risk entries.

To start the scan, click the Next button.

When the scan is finished mark everything for removal and get rid of it. (Right-click the window and choose select all from the drop down menu and then click Next)

    Restart your computer.

    SPYBOT SEARCH & DESTROY

    http://majorgeeks.com/download2471.html

Open Spybot Search & Destroy (Click Start, Programs, Spybot S&D (Advanced Mode). Click online, Search for updates, Download all available updates. Close all Browser windows, Click ''Check for Problems''. Anything that needs to be fixed it will show in red and have a green check in the box to the left. Click ''Fix Selected Problems'', Then restart your computer.

Then, after rebooting, please post another log and we’ll see what’s left to get rid of.

Ok...I ran both programs. Ad-Aware ran fine and found nothing. Spybot found entries for DSO Exploit and Wildtangent. When I told it to fix the selected problems all sorts of error messages started to pop up saying that certain files were missing. I kept clicking ok and finally it finished and said all problems were fixed. I rebooted ran Hijack again and below is what I got. Thanks for your help!

The DSO exploits are a bug in SpyBot some people are experiencing. You can get the fix for that here:

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4392.html

If you have WildTangent I suggest you uninstall it via the Control Panel-Add/Remove programs unless you absolutely need it to play games.

Download the Hoster from: http://members.aol.com/toadbee/hoster.zip. UnZip the file and press "Restore Original Hosts" and press "OK". Exit Program.

Rescan with Hijack This, close all browser windows except Hijack This, put a check mark beside these entries and click “fix checked”.

I ran the check at housecall and it came back with no infections. I could not get the panda software page to load. It times out everytime. I got it load with Mozilla but you need IE to do the active scan.

I know nothing about these logs I have been sending you, but I noticed on the new log below the top three items you had me fix last time are still on the log...is that ok? All the other items are gone though. Again, thank you for your help!!!

Before we proceed I wanted to ask you if you want HP to be your home page. If not, we can clean up all those hp entries. Please let me know.

My default browser is Firefox 1.0 and I have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers webpage as my home page and I rarely use IE. As for when I do use IE, no I do not want or do I care if HP is my homepage.

Hi, It helps to turn of SpyBot's TeaTimer protection when you use Hijackthis to fix things.

Here is how: You will probably need to switch to the Advanced mode, up at the top of the SpyBot main window, select Mode>Advanced and OK it....do this:

to DISABLE Spybot Tea Timer...(you can turn it back on later).

    Open Spybot>Tools>Resident.
Look in "Resident Protection Status" and you'll see boxes to select/deselect TeaTimer

    Then apply what Cookiegal advises.

I am still getting those errors and I still cannot load CNN or Google. I checked those lines like you asked and clicked fix. I rebooted and scanned again and the results are below. Those three O2-BHO lines are still in my scan. When I make those fixes Spybot pops up with confirmation boxes and asks me if I want to accept or deny the change. I click accept yet the lines are still there. Should I fix it again but turn off Spybot first? It runs in my systray while I am running Hijack and doing the fixes. Also when I reboot I get a message from Zone Alarm, "The firewall has blocked internet access to your computer (ICMP Unreachable) from 192.168.1.1" I do not know if this is part of the problem or not.

Did you disable Spybot's tea timer as Byteman suggested before doing the last fixes?

One of those BHO's belong to NIS but the file is missing so it's possible that NIS is corrupt. The other one is unidentified and is probably no good.
