data lost

    Hi
    Im a girl so obviously dont know what im doing!!!! lol

    I backed up all my documents (photos, files work stuff etc.) to disk so i could reset my computer.
    After i had copied everything i needed to disk i ran the disk to check everything i neeeded was on there.. and it was.. then our computer crashed and now the disk is empty and i have lost everything... aaargh

    please help is it gone forever.

    computer is a dell inspirion 6400 running vista

    What disk? Where? How?

    Sorry, but you didn't explain what you did very well. Did you put your files on CD or another drive, or what? Where are they now and do you have copies?

    If you've backed up all your files first as you imply, then you should be able to copy them back to the computer.

    If however, you cant find the files anywhere then I suggest you take a look at http://www.getdeletedfilesback.com for useful advice and info on how to best recover lost and deleted files. It's a great site for file recovery information.
