I have Win 98se . I came up with a worm that Norton didn't find ([email protected]) . I was able to rid the worm , but , when I went to do my maintenance I ran a thorough Scan Disk and it found no problems . When I went to De Frag is when I have trouble . De Frag stops and prompts me to run a Scan disk . I tried this many times with no results . Any Ideas ???

Make sure you ran ScanDisk in "thorough" mode, not "Standard".

Norton is an excellent AV proggie - just how did you find the virus yourself? You say you 'rid the word' but i doubt you managed to fix the infected files. What utility did you use to clean it ?

I went to Anti Virus page and loaded FixSwen , then went to Nortons page and updated to 9/25 , and ran it . so far the worm hasn't manifested itself again .

Maybe running Scandisk and Defrag in safe mode will help.

So can you explain to me how to go about this, and are my files already repaired by running those programs , or not ? What do you think is causing the Defrag problem ?
