I am having a problem with Windows explorer. I am running XP Home SP3. When I right click on an object (ie. picture) I get an error that Windows explorer has encountered an error and needs to shutdown. The problem is in the windows explorer not IE. The tech data I get is as follows: Appname: explorer.exe Appver:6.0.2900.5512 Modname: pdshext.dll Modver:5.0.0.0 and offset: 00019873. I have been in contact with the manf. of computer and they want me to do a recovery as a restore did not solve the problem. Any other option would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome to TSG :)

Have you installed any new programs lately that might have loaded themselves into the context (right-click) menu ? If so , uninstall them and see if that solves the problem .
