I have an Advent 7026 laptop (Pentium 2GHz processor on Gericom m/board) with 2 x 256MB DDR SDRAM (PC2100) I'd like to upgrade to 1GB.

If I were to buy a single 1 GB card could I then add another card of different size in the other slot at a later date, or do both slots have to be the same.

Also, my current RAM is PC2100, how can I find out waht's the highest speed of RAM that the computer would benefit from and what happens if the RAM is too fast for the rest of the system?

I've tried the 'Crucial Memory' site for information but my laptop isn't on there.

    Thanks in advance.
