I'd uninstall these two - Ad-Aware - Spybot - Search & Destroy.
If you scan with Malwarebytes and Superantispyware say once a week, you will have enough Malware protection for you Pc.

I will need to research what this program does - WildBlue Optimizer Ver 2011-06-01 and if it is the cause of your Pc running slowly.

From your post # 3
Total Physical Memory 958 MB
Available Physical Memory 230 MB

At the time you posted the above - you had 230Mb available memory.

From TheShooter93 post # 11
Your Pc will take a total of 4GB of RAM.

The Crucial scan should show you what type of Ram you have installed.
Run the scan again - and scroll down to see what is listed.
You need not buy from Crucial - your local Pc shop will have all that you need.

Below is what I found from the crucial scan:
Forgive my duh, but does this mean that my ram is model A11G
manufactured by PCCHIPS? Sorry this is just over my head.
Thanks.

The following is a list of what our scan was able to detect:

System Manufacturer: PCCHIPS
System Model: A11G
Motherboard Manufacturer: PCCHIPS
Motherboard Model: A11G

Blues,

Uh I'm probably going to have to find someone who knows what a stick of ram looks like. Is there somewhere where I can see a pic of one to know what I'm looking for?
Thanks,
Putergal

Blues_harp & rkseid,
Was going to try to take out stick of ram myself but husband said let's go to staples. So the guy
there had to order a 2GB stick. They were out. In the meantime he had a 512 he added so now we are running 1 1/2 GB. He said I could order another 2GB if the 3GB total isn't fast enough.
rkseid, how will i know when the defrag level is 10%? I haven't read the maletips link yet. Will do that now. Thanks so much for all of the help. Putergal

rkseid,

I am trying the defrag instructions from the maletip link you gave me. I have entered
defrag -a -v c: and defrag -a c: with no response. Does it take awhile to get the information?
I now see how I can find out if a drive is at 10%. Also the only drives I know about are A: Floppy, D & E: dvd, and C. Thanks

Again I jumped the gun. Here are the results of the defrag analysis. So it looks like it will tell you if you need to defrag. correct?

Your Crucial memory scan shows that you have 4 memory slots.
1 slot contains 1024 Mb [1GB] and you have 3 empty memory slots.

Quote from Crucial.
'Although the memory can be installed one module at a time, the best performance comes from using matched pairs of modules'

In the Memory slot next to the 1GB - it would be best to install another 1GB of memory.
I'm surprised the guy from Staples did not make that suggestion.
In the remaning 2 slots - it would be best to install 2 x 1GB.

As for the defragment - 'you do not need to defragment this volume'
All that said - how is your Pc running?

Here are the results of the defrag analysis

Ok, no need to defrag then. :)

One optimization you can do to make your unit faster: Downlod from System Internals
(http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897428) the program contig. Use
it to defrag your Master File Table (MFT).

Once you have downloaded the file, no need to install, just put it in your windows
folder so it can then be run from anywhere.

Open command prompt,

type
contig
to agree to the EULA then read the messages, check if there
are warnings of incompatibilities. If none proceed.

goto your drive C: by typing C: in your command prompt
then type
contig -v $MFT
goto your drive D: by typing D:
then type
contig -v $MFT
again to defrag your MFT.

Hi, Putergal - defragging the hard drive is seldom needed with bigger and faster hard drives.
In the Win 98 days, then it was needed but defragging the hard drive once a month, is more than enough.

How often are you checking and defragging your hard drive?
How is your Pc running after all that you have done all the suggestions above?
And as said - an increase of Memory will make all the difference.

blues,
Talked to puter guy who built my puter. He thought it was 2 slot but couldn't remember for sure. Staples guy thought it was a 2 slot but just called him and he said maybe there were 2 slots that were hidden. Sooooooooooo whenever the 2GB Ram arrives that he ordered for me and he calls, I will take it in for him to check out again. If there are 4 slots, I will tell him I want all slots with 1GB.
Since he ordered the 2GB for me, I wonder if he will insist I buy it? We'll see.
Yes all that you have asked me to do has really helped. Chaning our IP to Wild Blue Excede has helped too. I am totally appreciating your help and patience with me.
Thanks

rkseid,

i'm having trouble following your contig instructions. I did download it. I put it in the windows file.
I opened it and extracted files and clicked on Run. Typed Run and then contig in command prompt and got the message Windows cannot find contig. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Putergal

blues,
I hardly ever defragged until my puter guy said I should try defragging and then I went nuts defragging everytime the puter slowed down. I need to get on a routine of some kind. Again
you have been amazing with all the suggestions and help. It is running much better. Can't wait to see how it runs with 4GBs. I'll be flying. :)
Thanks,
Putergal
