Hi, I have a strange problem. One of our users is using Office XP on a fully patched Windows 2k machine (512 MB RAM, 1.5 Ghz, fast machine). Whenever she tries to open an Office file using any method other than File -> Open (i.e. double-clicking in Explorer, opening e-mail attachments, etc) she gets a 1.5 minute delay before the file will open. This occurs in Excel, Powerpoint, and Word. I haven't tried Access.
Here's what I've tried:
- Rebooted in Safe Mode, double-clicking on a word file opens fine. Problem does not occur in Safe Mode.
- Uninstalled, deleted all registry entries, and reinstalled Office.
- Moved .dot files out of the template folder and the startup folder (googling has turned this up as an occasional problem).
- Removed all networked printers (googling has turned this up as an occasional problem).
- Defragged and error checked her hard drive.
I am not having this problem with any other software program.
Any ideas?
