    Hey guys.

My small mens fashion business uses the gmail server and employees have macs.

My mail accounts are SMTP using gmail accounts.

I desperately need to clean out my mac mail box because it is so full it is causing operating problems.
But I need to retain all emails on the gmail server for regular reference.
Currently, when an email is deleted on the mac it will also delete in teh gmail account.
This is a fine system, but I do need an annual clean out on the mac to keep steady work flow.

Using MacOS Mojave as my client
    Version 10.14.4
    Updated mail Version 12.4 (3445.104.8)

    Thank you for any help.

SMTP is for sending emails out. Is your incoming settings set to IMAP?

    Edit:

In Apple Mail, under Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Mailbox Behaviors, make sure that both options are checked "On" for Trash. (Move deleted messages to the Trash mailbox; and Store deleted messages on the server.)

    Hi Couriant.
Thank you for replying to my post!
I am sorry but i do not see an available setting option for incoming mail.
Perhaps this is an update. I do remember it existing in the past.
    Images attached of my window.

    Thank you for your time.
