I cannot figure out how to delete my search bar history, I have hit all the deletes in IE properties. How and where if you know I would be very grateful. Thanx

I think you can go to the search bar and highlight each one and hit delete to rid of it. I know you can do that with your search history in search engines like Google.

I think "Spybot" does give you the option of deleting all kinds of temporary files like history and cookies.

I wonder if you are talking about a feature called "in line auto complete" though. I used to hate that when I did a search it would buffer that search string and auto insert it if I started to type something similar in the search box. If that is what you mean, you can turn that off in IE TOOLS...INTERNET OPTIONS...ADVANCED....uncheck the box called in line autocomplete.....

If I did a search for ...lets say....."bikinis"......and later one of the kids did a search for "bikes"...it would autocomplete their search box with "bikinis" as soon as they typed "bi...."

escobiddy,

To clear your previous search entries, in IE go to Tools > Internet Options > Content > AutoComplete

Click the Clear Forms button. This will clear your search bar history.

If you want to turn this feature off, uncheck the three boxes just above the 'Clear Forms' button.

phoneguy55,

The Use inline AutoComplete... options in 'Tools > Internet Options > Advanced' will only determine whether the autocomplete function will display any matching entries in your history on the same line you are typing (inline enabled) or give you a drop down list instead (inline disabled).

thanks RB...
I thought there was something else I had done, but couldn't remember what.....doing both of the aforementioned things helps to clean up behind yourself.....especially on shared systems.

on another note....I usually clear the cache and cookies and history after each Surf-Session......but what about "temp" files other than Temp internet files....should/can all temp files be canned after each session, or would you consider that overkill?
