Where is your work saved - on the local PC or on a Network Server?

If its your local PC, what operating sytem are you using, as you may well be able to go back to a previous date. Whatever, if you haven't got the ability to go back and haven't done backups, then, you should not ujse the machine until somebody more techie than me answers this thread.

If it is saved to a network server, then the first thing to do, is go and talk to your IT manager straight away, and that person should be able to recover your original file, probably a backup from last night.

So apart from the above, don't panic captain mannering and wait for the super hero on here to give you advice.

I have already tried it. Does not affect files that have been saved.

This could be in the wrong section. Maybe the therad should be in the operating system section.
Is theer an Elf out there that might be able to decide on the most appropriate section.

Chef guy, you still don't say what operating system etc you are using.

If the file has been saved over there is no way to restore the original.

    Sorry :(

I agree, if you saved over it, that is what saving is for. To replace the old copy with the new.

The only real hope is that you have a high end version of Vista (Business or Ultimate) If so there may be a previous version saved.

Any chance that you have emailed to someone else?

Thats exactly why I was asking earlier what operating sytem was being used.

Pity the file wasn't being saved on a server.
