I was clearing out old saved emails in Outlook Express 6 when I accidentally deleted the very important files I was tyring to made easier to find. I have looked in the recycle bin - not there, I have ran a system restore did not help - Has anyone a suggestion other than suicide in getting those deleted back

    Hope someone can help.

    Hi dg8

Download the Outlook Express Extraction tool:
    http://macallan.club.fr/index.htm

If the store folder in Outlook Express has not been compacted, you may be able to recover messages from the Deleted Items.dbx file.

Be sure to enable Show Hidden Files and Folders
    • Open My Computer,
Tools > Folder Options > View tab,
under Hidden Files and Folders, verify Show Hidden Files and Folders is selected.
Remove the check mark for Hide Extensions for known file types.
Apply, OK to save and close.

Let us know if you are successful or not.

See if a Search will reveal the Deleted Items.dbx file:

    • Start > Search > For Files or Folders > All files and folders,
In the field for: all or part of the file name
      Key in:
      .dbx
Below that, click on More advanced options
in the field: Type of File, select (All Files and Folders)
      place a checkmark in:
    • Search system folders
    • Search hidden files and folders
    • Search subfolders
      click Search

Does your Search return *any* results for .dbx files?
