I attempted to make my laptop faster so I deleted most of unnecessary files and applications and then attempted to install bitdefender. It gave me an error message that I needed to update my windows vista to service pack 2 so when I tried to do that, it failed because the computer shut off. Now its refusing to connect via wired connection which is working in the rest of the house and saying I have driver that needs software installed. Help please!

deleting files will NOT make your machine faster, unless they are malware.

What files did you delete? You will most likely need a Vista install disk to repair this.

I'm going to change the title of the thread as well.

    And welcome to TSG. :)

Well Like V said above, do you know WHAT you deleted??? Lets try running SFC /SCANNOW from an elevated command prompt. and see if that will repair the files you deleted....if that dont work try doing a system restore to BEFORE you messed with the amchine

Service Pack 2 for Windows Vista was released in May 2009.

Why has your laptop been running in such an outdated condition for so long?

    ----------------------------------------------------------

What's the brand name and model name and model number of your laptop?
