Shutdown all video palyer(s) you have running. Reboot your computer. After system is up, navigate to the video file and RIGHT click on it. Choose DELETE. Also you may want to empty your Windows/Temp folder. The file should delete. If it is still saying "in use" then post back.

Start->Run->type in msconfig. On the Startup tab "de-tick" everything, restart pc, then delete the file, which I suspect is no ordinary video file if it's slowing down your pc and not allowing it to be deleted. You have restarted your pc since downloading it and tried to delete it yeah?

Boot into safe mode and see if it will let you delete the file.

As your computer starts to boot up, hold down the F8 key. Choose safe mode from the startup menu.

If you do a ctrl-alt-delete does this file show as a running process?

How about moving it to a new folder and deleteing the folder

it won't even let me move the file to another folder. it says file currently in use by another program. When i do a ctrl alt del. it doesn't show as running either. someone else said that i might have a virus or a trojan? I have nortron anti virus on my computer and constantly check for viruses. Is there anything else i should do?

you could do an online scan as a double check

    http://housecall.trendmicro.com/

    and check for spyware...

This is a copy and paste from a post by Steamwiz...seemed eaiser than me typing it out :)

If you post your startup list we may be able to spot something

Please post your startup list by doing the following :-

Please go here and download startuplist 1.51 :-

    http://www.lurkhere.com/~nicefiles/

Download to any folder or your desktop
    Unzip the zipfile
    Double click the exe file
go to Edit - select all - copy - and paste the results in a new post here

also what is the extention of the file? What program plays it?...you may need to uninstall that to get rid of it

cut the internet line(cable or phone)--just in case ET is calling home
then disable all the programs in msconfig
reboot, and then try to get rid of it, just a thought ;)
