deleting mulitple os names @ startup

hey i had installed multiple os on my pc. but somehow one got currupted, so i deleted that folder, but on startup, it still shows that old os name. how can i get rid of dis

Welcome,

You can edit the BOOT.INI file.

Press Windows Logo key + Pause Break key
in the new window Advanced
under Startup & Recovery click Settings
under System Startup click Edit button.


For one O/S should be something like this

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn

You can also use MSCONFIG and test all the boot paths. It'll allow you to delete any from the GUI that are not valid.
