Dell 8300 Desktop burn?

    i have a dell 8300.. im planning on changing the CASE ... the dell uses a power suppply of 250 watts... the case that i want uses 420 watts.. if i change the case will my motherboard burn? :confused:

    Hi fro,

    not burn, but the case fans won't shut off. Dell uses proprietary motherboards and power supplies you would have to change the motherboard too, or get an adapter. I googled it and found a couple of places that make them.

    Yes the mobo may burn out as already mentioned Dell used a different cabling array for its power supplies, you might also find that the mobo has holes in it that dont correspond with the risers in the new case.
