Started having problems when Scanning and Copying on this printer.
Only one side of the object gets scanned or copied, the other side comes out black. There's nothing jamming the paper feeder and nothing left lying on the scanning glass.

Any ideas would be gratefully received.

When I say one side I mean one half of the page. The left hand side is coming out black.

Not getting muck luck on this.
I have attached a copy of a typical problem scan, to see if this helps.

    Thanks

    hi

Try to uninstall the printer driver and reinstall it. procedure for uninstall

    1. Click on start
    2. Right click on my computer
    3. Select manage
    4. Go to device manager
    5. select imaging device from the list, right click on it select uninstall
    6. Restart the system, using the printer cd and reinstall it.

Now try to scan the document, if still the same, contact the service provider.

    :( Still no luck.
The laptop is communicating with the printer/scanner ok and prints without a problem and send the scanned file to laptop.
Problem lies with the actual scan or copy, which produces the black block as shown above.
This is driving me mad and will probably be cheaper to buy a new all-in one than pay for techi advice from Dell.

    hi,
    Sorry to hear that

Try cleaning the mirror with the soft cloth NO LIQUID SOLUTION, to be applied and try to scan the document, if still problem persists, try with any other system, if it works fine in another system, problem will be with the OS, if not problem with the scanner.
