Hello to Everyone in the Forum:

I am nubie here just to learn and help out others at the same time:

I have a problem, my girlfriend Dell laptop 1525 does not go past the Microsoft Corporation load bar. Then When I press the power button to power down and restart it will go to the Windows recover screen, to which a black screen comes up nothing shows... When power down again and press F8 I will get the Advanced Boot Options. This what I see

    Repair Your Computer

    Safe Mode
    Safe Mode With Networking
    Safe Mode with Command Prompt

    Enable Boot Logging
    Enable Low-Resolution video (640x480)
    Last know Good configuration (advanced)
    Directory Services Restore Mode
    Debugging Mode
Disable automatic restart on system failure
    Disable Driver Signature Enforcement

    Start Windows Normally

Here is some more information for the fourm I had press the FN button + Power button I was able to see the Pre-Boot System Assessment Build 4108
    I did see a Error Code 0146
    Msg: Error Code 2000-0146
Msg: Hard Drive 1- Self test log contains previous errors(s)

I hope this helps the forum...

    Try the repair option.

There, you should find an option to run Startup Repair. Try that, maybe even more than once.

You should also see an option to open a command window. In that window, run a disk check:

    chkdsk /r

Note the results, and in particular, if any bad clusters are found (Bytes in Bad Clusters).
