    Okay... Confused.
Wife turned off computer, went to bed, next morning computr doesn't turn on. No lights. Nothing.

    1) Checked out battery in other compatible computer. Is charged and works. Check.
    2) This tells me my charging cord is also good. However, I did double check in other computer and that computer read being charged. Check.
    3) Was advised might be CMOS battery, coin battery. Bought new. Replaced. Still doesn't work. Check.
    4) Insides are clean. Nothing has been spilled. Check.

Help or is tech center my only option at this point?

If it is truly compatible try the 'other' computer's charger with the problem Dell. Any sign of life ? What make and model is the other computer ?

    1. The computer will or will not turn on with just the battery?
    2. The computer will or will not turn on with the battery removed and connected to power?

Both are same make and model. No sign of life. Not even a wink of a blinking LED anywhere.

Computer won't turn on at all. With or without a battery.
    With or without a charger.

    With or without them both.

I have tried it in a box
I have tried it with a fox.

I say it won't turn on no matter where.

(I apologize for the Dr. Seuss slip.) :)

Might also be a broken power button. :)
