In a recent visit with my sister, I noticed she did not have a battery installed in her Inspiron 600m laptop. After I demonstrated the advantages of having battery power available at times, we ordered a battery from batteries.com which arrived a few days later.

Installed the battery, left it to charges overnight and had the same indications as was present with an older battery. Control Panel/Power Options/Power Meter Tab indicates "No battery Preasent" ????

The battery LED flashes Red-Red-Green ??? the computer definately does NOT operate on battery power.

    Any ideas out there????

Those 600m's were plagued with issues. It could very well be a faulty battery or faulty battery connector but it seems that the battery is charged. I have a 600m...if you were closer i'd test it for you, LoL.

I would attempt an exchange with batteries.com to see if it is indeed a faulty battery.

The battery is new, so it seems unlikely to be related to the battery itself.

Any knowledge about the charging circuit or perhaps wiring issues?

I do know that the capacitors on that specific model become distended and cause a varied array of issues.

I'd search the web for the 600m. I'm sure you'll come across someone with a similar issue
